Redactwizard Legal is a compact, locally executed Windows application for redacting, anonymizing, and pseudonymizing confidential documents. PDF and text files are analyzed and processed directly on your own computer — without cloud processing, without subsequent AI model downloads, and without a required subscription.

Redactwizard Legal is the current successor to the previous Legal edition and replaces its former product and feature set.

Legal focuses on the essential tools for everyday document redaction and combines local AI detection, OCR, PDF editing, manual tools, and batch processing in a compact application.

One Local AI Model

Redactwizard Legal includes one integrated AI model for detecting personally identifiable and other sensitive information.

The model supports multilingual detection across 100+ languages and allows selected entity classes to be analyzed depending on the document.

The AI runs directly on the Windows PC. No document data therefore needs to be transferred to an external AI or cloud service for document analysis.

Redactwizard Legal focuses on the essential tools for processing confidential documents locally.

PDF Redaction as Full Raster Output

Redactwizard Legal uses full raster output for the creation of redacted PDF documents.

Each PDF page is rendered as a raster image and then saved back into a PDF. The redactions are therefore permanently embedded in the page image.

Technically, the result is a digital copy of the original PDF page. The original PDF text layer is not retained as editable or searchable text.

Raster output is independent of the original PDF structure and can therefore also be used for complex documents where direct processing of PDF vector content cannot be performed reliably.

Security notice: Even with fully rasterized PDF files, the resulting document should always be reviewed before being shared or published.

Manual Editing for Content Outside AI Detection

Not every sensitive element exists as clearly identifiable text. Redactwizard Legal therefore provides additional manual tools for content that is not detected by the AI or cannot be detected reliably.

These include:

• Rectangles and freehand areas
• Polygon tools
• Blur
• Text and stamps
• Bates numbering

This allows users to specifically process signatures, stamps, logos, handwritten notes, and graphical elements.

Detection of Personally Identifiable Information

The integrated AI model supports the detection of various categories of personal and sensitive information.

These can include persons, organizations, addresses, contact information, financial data, and technical identifiers.

AI detection supports 100+ languages, making it suitable for multilingual documents.

Available entity classes can be selectively enabled or disabled through the filter settings.

Rules, Blacklist, and Whitelist

Recurring terms can additionally be controlled using blacklists and whitelists.

Terms can be selected in the editor and added directly to a list through the context menu.

This allows specific names, terms, or other content to be processed independently of AI detection or excluded from automatic redaction.

OCR for Scanned Documents

Redactwizard Legal supports the processing of scanned PDF documents using OCR.

This makes it possible to analyze documents whose content originally exists only as an image.

After OCR recognition, detected content can be further processed using the available AI and manual tools.

Batch Processing for Multiple Documents

Redactwizard Legal can automatically process multiple PDF or text documents.

Batch processing is suitable for recurring tasks and larger document collections. Depending on the document, OCR, AI detection, and automatic redaction can be combined.

Four Independent Workspaces

Redactwizard Legal provides four separate virtual workspaces for different document collections and cases.

Multiple documents can be opened simultaneously and organized using tabs. This allows, for example, different clients, projects, or cases to be kept separate.

Archive, Recycle Bin, and Access Protection

Processed document versions can be managed locally using the integrated archive.

Deleted archive objects can initially be restored through the recycle bin. Optional 4-digit PIN protection is also available for local access.

Portable and Local

Redactwizard Legal is provided as a portable application.

All required components and the integrated AI model are already included. No additional AI or model download is therefore required after launching the application.
